Ramsau am Dachstein in summer
Even now Ramsau am Dachstein is used as a training centre the whole year round by cross-country skiers, ski jumpers, biathletes and Nordic Combined skiers. However, it is not only top sportsmen who find the ideal conditions for their sport here: 8 marked Nordic walking and running trails are available to all hobby sportsmen, guests and locals. From the one kilometre long World Championship course to the half-marathon and marathon courses, everyone can find the right level and elevation profile.
There are 8 Nordic walking and running circuits available on the sunny plateau of Ramsau for healthy and sporting activities. In the healthy high altitude of this climatic spa town and the associated bracing climate at 1200 m, which have been singled out by many studies, the Ramsau Nordic walking and running circuits are the perfect active leisure choice. The range of trails offers sporting, hobby and "beginner" walkers many different options in the magnificent Alpine landscape across the entire high plateau. Olympic and world champions, i.e. top sportsmen the world over, find "the source of their power" here. World Cross-Country Skiing Champion and running guru Dr. Alois Stadlober has brought his experience to the implementation of this new opportunity.
The starting point for the range of Nordic walking and running options is the cross-country skiing stadium (centre of events in Ramsau). After your sporting activities, the ideal complement is available in the Ramsau spa paradise with its comprehensive Wellness facilities. There are also changing and sanitary facilities as well as parking spaces. In addition, Ramsau am Dachstein also offers a Nordic Walking demonstration centre with performance diagnostics, sports therapy and training guidance, all of which meet the highest standards. The centrepiece of the International Training Centre is treadmill that supports roller skis; speed and gradient are adjustable. You can emulate the Olympic trails in dry training on the 4.5 x 3 metre treadmill surface. In addition, facilities for simulated altitude training are being created. There is also a fitness room with strength training machines, ergometers and treadmills with the best technology. The range of options is completed with a climbing tower and a gymnasium. Austria's largest roller ski track on the high plateau of Ramsau at 5.6 km long, is perfectly suited to the new trend of Nordic blading.
