The first Austrian Walking Academy was founded at the beginning of 2003 with the cooperation of the Austrian Walking Institute under the leadership of Dr. Christina Mikinovic. The Schloss Schielleiten Federal Sport and Leisure Centre in Stubenberg am See is the official permanent base. This location was chosen because of its optimum infrastructure, ideal geographic position and organisational conditions.
