Teufelstein

The Teufelstein lies between Schanzschattel and Alpl in the Fischbach Alps. The ascent is from Fischbach in the district of Gmoa via the Zellerkreuz through thick spruce forest. At the gateway to the mountain pasture you reach the pastures and presently your goal.

The peak is formed of three mystical mica schist boulders lying on top of one another - it is without doubt one of the strangest peaks in Styria.

According to one legend Lucifer wanted to escape hell. God granted the devil this on condition that he build a ladder to heaven in a short amount of time. Lucifer failed miserably and had to remain in hell. The three boulders, however, remain here.
